FROM ANTRON BROWN:
Driver of the Matco Tools Eagle Experience Top Fuel Dragster
“Maryland is the closest racetrack to being a hometown track for us, and it’s definitely a home front for Hangsterfer’s, being a South Jersey company. So it feels real good to go out there. I know my uncle and my dad have raced that track many times on the bracket side, so it feels cool. The cool part is it’s like an old-school, nostalgic track where it’s got concrete to 300 feet, then asphalt for the rest. That’s definitely going to be a new game and science for us to learn because we haven’t raced a fuel car on an asphalt track from the 330 to the eighth mile in quite some time.
“All in all, I know it’s been seasoned, peppered, and ready to go. I don’t think it’s going to be much difference there, but I’m just really excited, pumped up to get out there and be in front of a hometown crowd to go out there and put our Matco Tools Eagle Experience car to the test. We’re coming off a really good race from Route 66, and we’re looking forward to getting out there on the East Coast and seeing what we can do.”
TAKE NOTE:
• This will be Sampey’s first time competing at Maryland International Raceway
• Sampey enters the event ninth in points in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series National Standings and number one in the Central Region Standings
• Sampey’s primary partner, Hangsterfer’s Metalworking Fluids, is headquartered in the Mid-Atlantic region and will be well represented throughout the event.

FROM ANGELLE SAMPEY:
Driver of the Hangsterfer’s FVP Mission Foods A/Fuel Dragster
“This is going to be the first time I’ve gone to Maryland, much less to the racetrack. I’m looking forward to getting there, seeing what this racetrack is all about. I don’t think that it being an inaugural race is going to make a difference because in the A/Fuel dragster, I’ve been to so many tracks where it’s been my first time getting down a racetrack in a car [as opposed to a Pro Stock bike]. So it’s like a normal everyday thing to go to a new racetrack, but it will be exciting to see what we can do there because coming off of two number one qualifiers, a number two qualifier, and going to the final at the last race. We are itching and just drooling for that win. So, if I can get the inaugural win at Budds Creek, Maryland, it would be fantastic. I’ve done it in the past at first races.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what my Hangsterfer’s A/Fuel Dragster can do with my Michalek Brothers race team and AB Motorsports, but I’m even more excited because it’s only an hour and a half away from Hangsterfer’s, and I know we’ll have a lot of friends and family from Hangsterfer’s at this racetrack, so it’s kind of like a home race for them. With the momentum we have going and them there with us, maybe that’s why we’ve waited to go to the winner’s circle – maybe it’s this weekend, so we can have all of our Hangsterfer’s crew with us. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that we can get it done.”
